How do I add the Lock Screen widget?

  1. Touch and hold your Lock Screen until Customize appears, then tap it and choose Lock Screen.
  2. Tap the widget area below the time, then choose Lampverse from the list.
  3. Pick Verse of the Day (rectangular) or Reading Plan (circular or rectangular), tap it to place it, then tap outside the panel.
  4. For a one-line verse above the time, tap the date line instead and choose the Lampverse inline widget.
  5. Tap Done in the top right.

Requires iOS 17 or later. If Lampverse is missing from the list, open the app once first; iOS registers widgets after the first launch.

How do I add a Home Screen widget?

  1. Touch and hold an empty spot on the Home Screen until the apps jiggle.
  2. Tap + in the top left (on iOS 18, tap Edit, then Add Widget).
  3. Search for Lampverse, swipe to the size you want (small, medium or large), then tap Add Widget and Done.

The large widget shows the verse and today's reading from your plan together.

The widget still shows yesterday's verse

The verse changes at midnight in your local time zone, and iOS refreshes widgets on its own schedule, usually within a few minutes. If a widget looks stale, open Lampverse once; the widgets reload immediately. Low Power Mode can delay widget updates.

How do I change the translation?

Open Settings in the app, tap Translation and choose King James Version, Berean Standard Bible or World English Bible. The reading screen also has a translation picker at the top. Widgets, the share card and the wallpaper follow the translation you choose.

Which translations are included, and why not NIV or ESV?

Lampverse includes the three complete English Bibles that are in the public domain: the King James Version (1769 text), the Berean Standard Bible and the World English Bible. All three are free and used unchanged. Modern translations such as the NIV, ESV, NLT, NKJV, NASB and CSB are copyrighted and require a license from their publishers. We have asked the publishers of the NIV and ESV for terms; if a license is granted, that translation would be added for Plus members in a later version. We do not promise it before that.

How does the reading plan work?

A wallpaper that changes every morning

Settings → Wallpaper explains the two steps: create a Shortcuts automation at a time of day that runs "Lampverse: Verse of the Day Image" followed by "Set Wallpaper". For a one-off, tap Save to Photos; the app asks for add-only Photos permission the first time.

Restore purchases, cancel, refund

Plus is bought through the App Store as a yearly subscription ($19.99) or a one-time lifetime purchase ($39.99). On a new device or after reinstalling, open Settings → Lampverse Plus → Restore purchases while signed in with the same Apple ID. To cancel the yearly plan: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Lampverse. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Why is Lampverse not available in the United Kingdom?

The King James Version is in the public domain everywhere except the UK, where the Crown holds the rights under letters patent and Cambridge University Press (with Oxford University Press and Collins) holds the exclusive right to publish it. Because the KJV text ships inside the app, we cannot simply hide it in the UK. We have written to Cambridge University Press to ask for permission; until we have it in writing, Lampverse is not offered on the UK App Store. The Berean Standard Bible and World English Bible are unaffected.

I found an error in a text

Please write with the exact reference and translation (for example "John 3:16, WEB"). We compare it with the source edition from eBible.org and correct it if it differs. We never edit the Scripture text ourselves.
